The world's longest runic inscription — the stone itself is 9th-century legend, raised by a father over his dead son Vämod.

The Rök stone (first half of the 9th century, ~760 characters) was raised by Varin over his son Vämod. The inscription, partly in cipher runes, alludes to heroic lays and myths (including Theodoric on horseback); scholars read the runes but dispute the meaning (a 2020 reading sees a climate crisis).
