The mighty medieval castle above Cardona is now a parador hotel, but its most talked-about room usually stands empty. Legend tells that in the eleventh century the lord's daughter Adalés fell in love with a Moorish nobleman and was locked in the Minyona tower as punishment, where she died of grief. Guests in room 712 have woken to whispers, found furniture moved to the centre of the room and taps turned on by unseen hands, and housekeeping staff reportedly never enter alone. The hotel now only lets the room to those who explicitly ask for it.
