Summerwind stood on West Bay Lake in northern Wisconsin and is the best known haunted house in the state.

Shadow figures are described on the grounds, and pinpoints of light float through the trees.

The claim that sets it apart is the building itself. People report measuring a doorway and finding it a few inches different a short time later, and say the foundations and the landscape change.

The house burned in the 1980s and only the foundations, chimneys and steps remain. Flowers grow all over the ruins.

The fame comes largely from one family's account, published in the 1970s, which included a hidden compartment, a body, and documents. Later researchers found significant problems with the story and with its principal source, and much of it does not stand up.

The ruins are on private land.
