Eighth graders were photographing the big red and white game. When the film came back there was a figure in an old Etowah High jersey.

A few years before this account was written, some eighth graders at this school in Etowah, Tennessee were taking photographs at a basketball game. It was the big fixture of the year, red against white, the school colours.

When the pictures were developed there was a shadowy figure among them, wearing an old Etowah High School basketball jersey.

The jersey is the whole of the claim. Etowah High School no longer exists as it was, and the strip in the photograph belongs to a version of the school that the children taking the picture would not have recognised.

Film photography of this period produced a great many accidental figures through double exposure, light leaks and slow shutter speeds in a poorly lit gym, and a crowd at a basketball game supplies plenty of candidates.

The school is in use.
