It is said that a “peculiar mood” once seized visitors in the inner courtyard, where a shapely image of Venus-Victrix glowed in the muted light.

Facts: Birgitta Sahlgren had the house built in 1753 after a great city fire. Sweden's first punch was drunk here in 1733, made from arrack brought home by the East India Company ship “Friedericus Rex Sueciae”. The house contains the unique Gustavian “Sparre Apartments” with interiors from the time of the art collector Gustav Sparre.
