On the night of 17 December 1916, Grigory Rasputin was lured to Prince Felix Yusupov's palace on the Moika River, fed poisoned cakes, shot several times and finally dumped in the river. The palace has since ranked among Saint Petersburg's most haunted buildings: visitors and staff report the murdered starets' face flickering past in the mirrors of the rooms where the deed took place. In the basement, a waxwork exhibition recreates the fatal supper. The palace has been singled out internationally as one of the world's top dark-tourism destinations.
