Marie d'Harcourt, who leapt from the keep, and her blood-stained tormentor are both said to haunt this fortress.

The medieval castle of Blandy-les-Tours south of Paris is often called the most haunted place in the Île-de-France, with a whole retinue of ghosts. Best known is Marie d'Harcourt, who died in 1439 and by legend threw herself from the keep rather than fall into the hands of the murderous Erard de Montargis. Erard himself is said to stalk the rooms in a bloody shroud, dagger in hand, cursed forever for his crimes, while an armoured horseman appears at the gate. Around All Saints' Day people speak of shapes crossing the courtyard at midnight and the rattle of chains from the underground passages.
