Described as a legless figure with a blurred face, grey coat and wig, he is said to sit down at the pianos after dark – guards have reported piano music from empty halls and furniture rearranged overnight. After a deafening crash one night, watchmen on an upper floor are said to have found the chairs lined up tight against the wall, and one teacher claims to have met the figure in the building's garage. The conservatory is now a fixture of the city's mystery walking tours.
