In physician T.G. Hamilton's home, a ghost laboratory of cameras captured 'ectoplasm' at séances for twelve years.

When physician and politician T.G. Hamilton lost his three-year-old son Arthur to the 1919 flu pandemic, he devoted the rest of his life to proving the dead could be reached. In his house on Henderson Highway he built a locked séance room rigged with more than a dozen cameras, and from 1923 séances ran once or twice a week for twelve years — producing photographs of white 'ectoplasm' billowing from the mediums' faces. Celebrities made pilgrimages here, among them Arthur Conan Doyle, while Prime Minister Mackenzie King joined the sittings. The house still stands, drawing scholars and ghost hunters alike.
