One day a severely wounded Confederate soldier was brought into the house so that they could try to heal him.

What is reported in the theatre now is not him. It is a Union soldier, in blue.

That mismatch is the interesting part of the account and nobody locally has ever resolved it. Williamsburg changed hands during the war and was occupied by Union forces for a long stretch of it, so a blue uniform in this building is entirely plausible on the history even though it does not fit the story people tell.
