In the 1920s a caretaker died of a heart attack in the girls' lavatory down in the cellar.

Cold spots and other sensations are reported there, along with a figure.

The building has a second life worth noting. From 1979 to 1989 the town used it as the St Albans Halloween haunted house, which means that for ten Octobers people came into it specifically to be frightened, in a building where something had actually happened.

That complicates every account from those years, and it is the sort of context most entries in this collection never supply.
