The hospital at Changi was built in the 1930s for the British Royal Air Force, but during the Japanese occupation the site was used by the feared Kempeitai military police, and one room is singled out as a torture chamber. Since operations moved out in 1997 the buildings have stood empty, becoming Singapore's most storied haunted site. Visitors and guards tell of a woman in white in the corridors, Japanese soldiers in uniform, and shadow figures around the old morgue. The building is fenced off, but its reputation as the country's most haunted place remains unshaken.
