Teatro Tapia on Plaza Colón opened in 1832 and is one of the oldest theatres still in use in the Western Hemisphere. Audience members and actors alike tell of an elegant woman in Edwardian-era dress who appears in Box 105 during performances. She seems to watch the stage intently for a few moments before dissolving in front of astonished witnesses. No one knows for certain who she was, but she has become a cherished part of Old San Juan's theatrical lore.
