Above the small town of Szendrő in northeastern Hungary lie the remains of a medieval castle that once guarded the Bódva valley. Locals tell of a mysterious black-cloaked figure that appears among the ruins, especially in rain or misty dawns – said to be the spirit of a soldier who fell defending the stronghold.
