Voergaard Castle in Vendsyssel is one of Denmark’s finest Renaissance castles, completed in 1588. Its most talked-about ghost is Ingeborg Skeel, the stern lady of the house whom her tenants experienced as a tyrant and who by legend returns to the castle again and again. The long line of owners and the dark passages lend the place an air of ages past. Today the castle holds an art collection and is open to visitors.
