The arts building stands where a row of old houses used to be. Most of what happens is in the corridor between the lobby and the classrooms.

The arts centre at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio was built along Third Street, where a good many old houses once stood, and the accounts are attributed to them rather than to the building.

A connecting corridor is a purely functional space. Nobody works in it, nobody stops in it, and it exists only to get people from one part of a building to another, which makes it an odd choice for a haunting and a good one for noticing something out of place.
