The Pagoda at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, Washington was built as the trolley terminus in the early part of the twentieth century. It has since been renovated and is hired out for weddings and parties.

The report is consistent and it comes from three separate groups: visitors, park staff, and the police. After dark, footsteps are heard moving around the building, made by hard soled shoes on a hard floor. They come down the stairs on the east side and then stop abruptly.

Sighing is heard at other times, and there are cold spots in the storage area beneath the building.

A police officer checking a park building at night is about as sceptical a witness as exists, and their inclusion in this account is what raises it above the ordinary.

A trolley terminus is a building designed for people to arrive at, wait in and leave from, thousands of them a day, for years. Then the line closed. The footsteps described are those of someone in the footwear of that period, coming down the stairs and going no further.
