A troll-dragon is said to live in the innermost cave – last seen in the late 1800s by an old shoemaker from Varholen.

Trollkirka on Hustadvika is a set of three limestone caves five hundred metres up the mountainside, hollowed out by running water. Inside the rock a stream races through a white marble chamber and plunges as a waterfall into the dark; you wade in ice-cold water by headlamp to reach it. Legend says a troll-dragon has its lair in one of the caves, and the tradition is surprisingly concrete: it was reportedly seen as late as the end of the 1800s by "an old shoemaker, Mats of Varholen", together with a man from Nordmøre. The same tales speak of a two-headed troll-fish in the cave water. The name – the trolls' church – comes from the innermost chamber, whose vaults and muffled acoustics look like a nave built by something that was not human.
