Outside Jecheon in North Chungcheong lies the old barbecue restaurant Neulbom Garden, popularly ranked among South Korea's three great haunted houses. The best-known tale tells of a company dinner party who ordered food from a waitress; when nothing arrived they complained to the owner, who turned pale and replied that the restaurant employed no waitress at all. Other rumours speak of dishes washed by themselves overnight, doors opening and closing on their own, and guests slapped on the back of the head by unseen hands. In truth the restaurant simply failed when a new expressway diverted its customers, but the abandoned building drew ghost hunters for decades and inspired the 2024 horror film Neulbom Garden. Today home-style meals are once again served on the premises.
