Fossesholm Manor in Vestfossen is one of Norway's best-preserved 18th-century manors and today part of the Buskerud Museum. It carries the legend of Limping Birthe — Birthe Svendsdatter — mocked for being able to count only to three, who by tradition threw herself from an upstairs window in the 1700s. Since then she is said to wander the estate as a limping, unhappy ghost. The manor is open to visitors, with exhibitions and gardens.
