By the light of the full moon a white lady wanders the ruins of Rouelbeau – the knight's cast-off wife who died of grief.

The medieval castle of Rouelbeau outside Meinier was built in 1318 and is today the only surviving castle ruin in the canton of Geneva. According to local legend, the White Lady was the first wife of the knight Humbert de Choulex, who repudiated her – and she died of a broken heart. Ever since, she is said to drift along the walls hoping to win back her husband's love. She appears above all on full-moon nights and on Christmas Eve, dressed in white among the damp moats.
