Green Jane was sent to beg for food, turned away, and fell to her death with her baby — she is still said to walk the castle.

Bamburgh Castle rises dramatically above the Northumberland coast. Its Green Lady, called Green Jane, is said to be a poor girl sent to beg for food at the castle but turned away by the guards. Exhausted, she fell to her death with her infant in her arms. There is also a Pink Lady, the castle’s oldest ghost. The fortress is open to visitors.
