Windsor Castle, the oldest inhabited castle of the British monarchy, carries several ghost legends. Anne Boleyn, beheaded by Henry VIII, is said to appear at the windows, and the king himself is said to be heard dragging his steps through the corridors. In Windsor Great Park, legend has it, rides Herne the Hunter, a spectral huntsman with antlers whose appearance warns of misfortune.
