A stone church probably from the 1200s (early-13th-century font preserved); present church 1814–15. In 1797 the parsonage and church archive burned entirely — much of the older parish history and folklore was lost. The village stands on an old 'harg' (Norse sacrificial site). Giant Garpe's three thrown stones lie in the lake here. [Documented history.]
