The Brafferton at William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia is one of the oldest buildings in America, and it was built for a specific purpose: it was an Indian school.

Native children were brought here, sometimes taken, to be educated out of who they were. Many of them were far from home, most of them were unwilling, and a great many died of European diseases in the building.

That is the documented history, and it is the reason this entry exists.

What is reported includes drumming, crying, screaming and footsteps, and a boy seen running across the playing field late at night. The interpretation offered on campus is that he is running home.
