Turn onto Wilcox Road outside Poplar Bluff, Missouri and after about a quarter of a mile the road forks. Bear left. It is paved and winding for a few miles, then turns to gravel. Carry on for roughly another mile and you reach a railway crossing.

Most people go at midnight, though sightings have been reported as early as ten in the evening.

The account behind it places a derailment here in the early 1900s in which most of the passengers were killed. What has kept the story alive is that the investigation into the wreck reportedly turned up findings that did not fit an accident, including the condition of one woman's body.

We have not been able to confirm the derailment or the investigation from any record, and it is set down here as local account.

This is a working level crossing on a gravel road with no lighting and no barriers. Whatever anyone is hoping to see there, the trains are real and they are the genuine hazard.
