The AMC cinema at Puente Hills Mall in La Puente, California was attached to the mall until 1996. Staff there report children running through the theatre and disappearing before anyone can reach them.

The older and stranger accounts belong to the Broadway department store that stood on the site, which employees regarded as thoroughly haunted. On the third floor, stock workers described music coming from a stockroom that was locked and empty. The area around the freight lift had a reputation among staff who had to work in it, who report panic and sudden cold rather than anything seen.

The second floor produced the most common experience of all, and one that non believers on the staff reported as readily as anyone else: hearing their own name called by someone who was not there. Clothing swung on the racks as though a person were moving between them, and cool draughts crossed a closed floor. The store is gone. The reports moved next door with the people who had worked in it.
