The Kennesaw House at Marietta, Georgia served as a hospital during the Civil War and is now a museum.

The account that sets this place apart came from two witnesses at the same moment. In the basement, on the lower floor, they saw a complete hospital scene: men lying in their beds, and doctors working among them.

A full tableau, seen simultaneously by two people, is about as rare as reports get in this archive. Almost everything else here is a figure, a sound or a feeling. This is a room in use.

Employees report other things they cannot account for.

The building also has a place in the history of the war for a different reason. The men who carried out the Great Locomotive Chase in 1862 spent the night here before stealing the train.

The museum is open to visitors.
