That is entirely plausible. After the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941, Honolulu had more dead than its facilities could handle, and public buildings across the island were requisitioned for every purpose the emergency demanded. Schools became hospitals, shelters and mortuaries.

People across several generations of this school report things throughout the building.

A green room is where performers wait before going on. It is a small room off the stage, and it is the one part of a theatre that is designed for people to sit in and do nothing.
