The Palmer House Hotel in Sauk Centre, Minnesota was built in 1901 by Ralph Palmer, after the previous town hotel had burned down. It was one of the first businesses outside the Twin Cities to have running water and electricity, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The hotel counts as one of Minnesota's most haunted. Among the accounts are children playing in the corridor although no children are staying at the hotel, and guests who have heard and felt a ghost cat jump onto the bed.

Among the named spirits is Raymond, said to have run a brothel on the top floor a century ago and whose spirit is said to haunt a room up there. An employee recounted talking with a woman who resembled Palmer's daughter Hazel — before the woman simply vanished. On the stairs up to the second floor a ghostly boy with dirty-blond hair and green eyes has been seen.

In the basement a dark shadow has been seen pacing back and forth in a doorway, and the lights there flicker for no reason. In another room a snowman decoration is said sometimes to dance for the guests — even though it is not even plugged in. The hotel still draws paranormal investigators from across the country.
