Riga Castle on the bank of the Daugava, founded by the Livonian Order in the 1330s and today the residence of Latvia's president, has court ghosts of its own. Most talked about is the Blue Lady, a female figure in blue said to glide through the halls, and the legend of "Dorothea's room" – a chamber tied to a woman once kept confined in the castle, whose spirit is said to linger. The ghost of the Holy Spirit Tower also belongs to the castle's storytelling tradition, and the presidential chancery itself has fielded the question of whether the castle is haunted.
