Some farmers from Ämtervik, traveling toward Malung with grain, are said to have come upon a splendid manor deep in the forest, where they sold their entire load. Later, at a nearby cottage, they learned that no such manor existed in the district, and their purses held not money but only wooden chips. When they turned back, they found the grain in a great heap on the snow. They had done business with the Evil One.
