This colossal lung hospital outside Barcelona opened in 1952 as Spain's largest tuberculosis sanatorium, a place where death was routine and suicides were said to be so frequent that cypress trees were planted below the windows. After closing in 1997, its echoing corridors became one of the country's most notorious haunts for ghost hunters: visitors describe icy draughts, wheelchairs shifting on their own and a metallic voice telling people to get out. The TV show Cuarto Milenio recorded EVP here in 2006. Today a film park occupies the building, which has served as the set for numerous horror movies.
